Five Kernels of Cornby Hezekiah Butterworth
Twas the year of the famine in Plymouth of old,The ice and the snow from the thatched roofs had rolled;Through the warm purple skies steered the geese o'er the seas,And the woodpeckers tapped in the clocks of the trees; And the boughs on the slopes to the south winds lay bare, and dreaming of summer, the buds swelled in the air.The pale Pilgrims welcomed each reddening morn; There were left but for rations
Five Kernels of Corn.Five Kernels of Corn!Five Kernels of Corn! But to Bradford a feast were Five Kernels of Corn!"Five Kernels of Corn! Five Kernels of Corn!
Ye people, be glad for Five Kernels of Corn!
"So Bradford cried out on bleak Burial Hill,And the thin women stood in their doors, white and still."Lo, the harbor of Plymouth rolls bright in the Spring,The maples grow red, and the wood robins sing,The west wind is blowing, and fading the snow,And the pleasant pines sing, and arbutuses blow.Five Kernels of Corn!Five Kernels of Corn!
To each one be given Five Kernels of Corn!"
O Bradford of Austerfield hast on thy way,The west winds are blowing o'er Provincetown Bay,The white avens bloom, but the pine domes are chill,And new graves have furrowed Precisioners' Hill!"Give thanks, all ye people, the warm skies have come,The hilltops are sunny, and green grows the holm,And the trumpets of winds, and the white March is gone,Five Kernels of Corn!Five Kernels of Corn!
Ye have for Thanksgiving Five Kernels of Corn!
"The raven's gift eat and be humble and pray,A new light is breaking and Truth leads your way;One taper a thousand shall kindle; rejoiceThat to you has been given the wilderness voice!"O Bradford of Austerfield, daring the wave,And safe through the sounding blasts leading the brave,Of deeds such as thine was the free nation born,And the festal world sings the "Five Kernels of Corn."Five Kernels of Corn!Five Kernels of Corn!
The nation gives thanks for Five Kernels of Corn
BLESSED!!

So right now I'm trying to have a mind frame of 'Get Rid of My food Storage' since we'll be moving inevitably in the next 1-2 yrs. It would be good to be able to google a 'How to get rid of your food storage in 6 months or less' site. lol After we move however, I plan on putting it back together and I liked this site. http://foodstoragemadeeasy.net/start-here/ I needed to keep it somewhere to remember in a year or two and I thought my blog was the best place.
I'm still trying to find someone to teach me Spanish. I asked a gal at the gym today and gave her my phone number so we'll see.

Re-living the past during the present
I worked up a sweat with Mr. Man dancing for hours after the kids went to bed. The girls kept coming down wondering what the loud banging was. It started because I was in the process of putting together the girls dance routine for their talent show. Ja was busy downloading the songs for them. In the process of finding just the perfect songs, we were brought back to our past of Stake dances. We played the songs we remembered dancing to, to show off for each other of how we would go crazy to the point of everyone else forced to move away from you until you were drenched with sweat ready for the next slow song coming up. Mr. Man's dance consisted up break dancing on the floor and jumping straight up as high as he could go in a mosh pit. He thought the girls would look and see who jumped the highest as view him as THE MAN! Well, no matter how high My man could jump, he will always be my Mr. Man. . . even though all girls reading this would know girls looked at mosh pits as, well, immature. We will still always be young (and immature) at heart I guess. Thank goodness. Too bad Mr. Man will be paying for it being on call tonight. Guess we should have ended our dance party before mid-night.

Our family is all here again!
So, my bro, Matthew came back from his mission from Minnesota. He looks different: He's taller, arms bigger but the biggest difference I see in him is his auora. Not that it was in any way negative before but if ya'll could look at that young man's eyes! He carries the spirit with him. I'm sure proud of that boy.

Clarification
So Jason informed me that we do not live in Jane Austen times for me to refer to him at "Mr. Harris." He said, "If you want to give me a title use my real one, Dr. Harris." I replied, "well you're not MY doctor . . .you're my MAN, Mr. Man." So since that's what I really call him at home, Mr. Man is how I'll refer to him from now on.
FYI: the flowers he gave to the girls were Star Lillies. They were in my wedding bouquet.

A fun day
Mr. Harris took me to Medieval Times for our Valentines Date. It was MY defintion of romantic. He gave my favorite kind of flower to the girls because I detest getting them. Just becuase I have a favorite flower doesn't mean I like receiving it. He treated me to the show with our neighbors Marianna and Hugo. I loved eating the meat with my hands and drinking my soup. It was authentic and I liked! He spoiled me and gave me a jewelry set I had been eyeing that our other neighbor (gemologist) makes (plus it matched my purple church clothes). He also gave me the second level (out of 3) to Rosetta Stone Spanish. I WILL be fluent. I just gave him the clothes he needed anyway. Can I help it if I have the best husband? I don't want to make anyone feel bad.

I love my life
My house has been full of children. Note to self: when you have children, you will multiply the amount of your children you have in your house by their friends coming over. I came downstairs to loudness and a naked toddler (Ben). As I stood in the middle of the family room laying out some ground rules, Ben straddled my leg, backed up with a huge grin, swinging his puggy arms back and forth and said,"pee on mom". I looked down and sure enough saw a warm, wet pant leg. Needless to say this caused a moment of silence amongst the kids then a burst of loud laughter. I had to leave because it was louder than when I came down in the first place by now.

February 3, 2009
What a perfect day! It all started with the beautiful weather outside. Sun is out shining with snow painted perfectly on each branch. Enjoyed an hour at the gym. . .(what would our ancestors think?) Drove straight to the library to get books . . .get this . . .FOR FREE! Any kind of book imaginable. Do we live in an awesome era or what? What a wonderful time and country to be living in. Oh that my ancestors and posterity could have is so bountifully as I do. Snuggling with cocoa under a blanket with my 2 boys was heaven on earth right before we left just to "hang" at chick fillet with my friend and her 2 kids. I studied my Spanish (Program on Line!! It forces you to learn with little or no brain work) and practiced my piano. Aren't we blessed to have a piano. . . such a luxury to have such a fine instrument. How would I feel to be "mobbed out of my house" over and over like our heritage? I'm sure they left their whole inheritance more than once.
